Make Your Own Vanilla & Peppermint Oil Lip Balm

I always see those fun projects on Pinterest that I Pin and really want to do but in reality I never actually do it. And when I do do it, it NEVER ends up like the picture. 😑 What’s up with that!! So anyways……a couple days ago I went onto the Hobby Lobby website for about an hour img_4992just looking at all the projects people make! And I saw lip balm tubes and a lightbulb went off in my head. I wanted to create my own lip balm. I’ve been wanting to make my own lip balm///lipstick for a good, long time now, so I guess you could say I was excited about this project!

All of the ingredients you need are at your local craft store. Except maybe the coconut oil which I got at the grocery store. Hobby Lobby isn’t close at all to me BUT it’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I’ll go in there for a couple things and end up with half the store in my cart. Like Target pretty much. So for this project here’s what you’re gonna need!

Ingredients:
2 Tbs Beeswax
– 2 Tbs Coconut Oil
2 Tbs Shea Butter
– 10-20 drops of essential oil (peppermint, vanilla, etc)
1/2 Tsp Vitamin E Oil
Lip Balm Containers
Lip Balm Tubes
– Measuring Cup//Spoons
– Stickers

This recipe makes about 10-12 containers of lip balm!

Directions:
1.) In a measuring cup combine your beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter.
2.) Microwave for 30-60 seconds or until all the contents are melted.
3.) After the contents are melted, quickly add 10-20 drops of your choice essential oil and the Vitamin E Oil.
4.) Quickly pour the contents inside the lip balm tubes & containers before it dries.
5.) Let the Lip Balm containers//tubes sit for 5-10 minutes.
6.) Decorate the containers with stickers and accessorize it how you like.
7.) Keep the lip balm for youself! OR Gift it to your friends and family!

And there you have it! Your very own lip balm that you can take anywhere. You can keep it in your purse (which is what I do) for emergencies. If you’re having a holiday party coming up or you’re doing a little gift exchange with your friends this is such a good idea. I used old stickers from my scrapbook to decorate it..I thought it looked kinda cute!

As I tested out the lip balm and I applied it to my lips, I was really surprised! They made my lips feel nice and soft! Most lip balms I buy don’t do that so I’m impressed! I’ve also seen some people add a small amount of their old lipstick in the mixture to add tint to the lip balm. That’s always an option too!

I hope everyone enjoyed today’s post! I certainly had so much fun with this. That’s honestly a reason I love DIY Projects! You get to customize, make things, have fun, and be creative. You get to add your favorite scent and decorate the lip balms however you want! If you try this project out send me pictures!  I would love to see how yours turned out. 🙂
